The program is shipped to you complete with test data for the Business Directory.
Please test the program with this data. To remove the test data,
See the bottom of this page.

Unzip the archive on your home computer.
This will create a /bizdir folder and a /cgi-bin
folder on your computer with sub-folders and files.

Use an FTP program to upload the files to your server.
WsFTP or Cute FTP or another FTP program. DO NOT use
Front Page or similar program.
VERY IMPORTANT!  UPLOAD THE FILES IN ASCII MODE!  (text mode)
Except the images which go BINARY

1. Make a directory on your server "bizdir" (no quotes)
2. Upload all the classified files and sub-folders to this directory (not cgi-bin files)
3. change the permissions on the /bizdir/userimages folder to  rwx-rwx-rwx (777)
   3a. chmod the feed.xml to rw-rw-rw (666)

CGI-BIN	
4. Make a directory under your cgi-bin called "bizdir" (no quotes)
5. Upload all the files and folders in the cgi-bin/bizdir folder to 
    the /cgi-bin/bizdir directory on your server.  -> ASCII MODE!
6. Chmod all the .pl files to rwx-rx-rx  (755)
7. Chmod the /data and backup directories to rwx-rwx-rwx (777)
8. Change directory to /lib
      Chmod category.list and error.log to rw-rw-rw (666)
9. Change directory to /data
      Chmod all the category files to rw-rw-rw (666)
10. Change directory to /logs
       Chmod all the files to rw-rw-rw (666)
11. Change directory to /config
       Chmod the configuration.txt file to rw-rw-rw (666)
      Chmod the bizdir-options.txt file to rw-rw-rw (666)


12.  With your browser, enter the web address to the install.pl program
       http://www.your_server.com/cgi-bin/bizdir/install.pl
       Use this form to complete the basic install. 
       WHEN FINISHED REMOVE THE INSTALL PROGRAM FROM YOUR SERVER.

Your administration page will be at:
        http://www.your_server.com/cgi-bin/bizdir/bizdir-admin.pl
        Use this program to access the "Program Options" to set the 
        options you want for your program.

REMOVING TEST DATA
You can now do this from the main admin page.
Be sure to remove the test data BEFORE you add listings.

Manual Removal
FTP to your /cgi-bin/bizdir/data folder.
1. Delete all the files in this folder  (*.data files)
2. CD to /logs folder.
3. Download the bizdir.log  (do not delete from your server)
4. Empty the log and re-upload to your server.
    All the rest of the changes you may want to make can be
    done from your admin program.

ADMIN NOTES:

If something happens on the server and the # of ad's are messed up with 
either the categories program or the search, you can run this utility - 
rebuild-bizdir-log.pl - with your browser, and it will fix the problem.

You can log in to any user screen with your admin password. This puts 
the edit or upload program in 'Admin Mode' and you can edit an ad or 
upload an image.

If one of your categories is:
Real Estate - the listing programs will print an MLS block.

If one of your categories are:
Autos or Auto Sales - The listing programs will print an Auto Form will all info.
